About VILLA BONA TERRA
Villa Bona Terra was in 1999 purchased by the
CHRIS-WINE Group
with the mission to show the wine world that great wines do not have to cost a fortune.
Villa Bona Terra - An Italian 'sounding' name reflecting the fruity and easy drinkable wines produced from Sangiovese at the estate in the Dealul Mare region, which is one of the most important wine regions in Romania - about 100 kilometres Northeast of Bucharest. Apart from Sangiovese we also cultivate Merlot and Tamaioasa, which is the Romanian name for the Muscat grape.
Today Villa Bona Terra consists of 125 hectares of vineyards giving an annual production of around 1 million litres of wine. The winery itself is located in Zoresti and is currently undergoing a modernisation of its vineyards and vinification facilities.
It is by investing in modern technology and by sharing know-how with our partners that the CHRIS-WINE group believe we can help to set new standards for wine production in Romania. At Villa Bona Terra, we are getting closer and closer to the optimal conditions.
In order to constantly improve the quality we work closely with the winemaking team from
Chāteau de Seguin
. We have also had help from one of the brightest Italian winemakers, Alberto Antonini. He is a graduate of the University of Florence and has held winemaking positions with Frescobaldi, Col d'Orcia in Montalcino, and Piero Antinori.
Villa Bona Terra wines have primarily been sold on the Scandinavian market but we are now working to broaden our distribution to other European markets.
Apart from some excellent reviews we are also proud that wine from Villa Bona Terra was served at a dinner during the Danish Queen Margarethe“s official visit in to Romania in May 2000.
About the wine
All our wines are undergoing a classical fermentation on stainless steel vats to obtain high fruit, good structure and well balanced wines.
Romania
